Project Overview
Budget Buddy is a fun, friendly budgeting app that helps students and young professionals manage money with ease. It’s designed to turn tracking and saving into something light, positive, and a little bit cute — thanks to its elephant mascot and cheerful visuals.
Context
Most budgeting apps feel too serious or complicated. I wanted to create something that made finance feel friendly and motivating — like a buddy who cheers you on instead of stressing you out.
Solution Output
A calm, visual, and uplifting app that:
-Shows expenses and savings clearly.
-Rewards users with cute animations and positive nudges.
-Uses a mascot to make the experience feel personal and warm.

Research
Target Audience: Students and young professionals who want to manage money better but find finance apps intimidating.

Ideation
The idea started with one thought: What if budgeting felt like a friendly conversation?
I explored fun illustrations, positive feedback loops, and a mascot that celebrates every win.
Wireframes
Simple wireframes focused on speed and clarity fewer taps, lighter visuals, and friendly copy that keeps the tone casual and supportive.
Design System
A modular design system was built for consistency across screens:
Buttons: Rounded with soft hover transitions and playful press effects.
Icons: Minimal yet expressive, matching the mascot’s friendly style.
Cards: Pastel backgrounds with subtle shadows to maintain lightness.
Microinteractions: Gentle pops and fade-ins that add life to user actions.
Final Design
Prototype
Built in Figma with smooth transitions and subtle elephant animations making every interaction feel alive and encouraging.
Results
Users described Budget Buddy as “a finance app that feels like a friend.”
It made budgeting approachable, fun, and something they actually wanted to stick with.
